About the System in questions and answers

Answers to the key questions about the System that help managers and technical specialists decide on testing the free version

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Is Cyber-CryptOn installed on a computer?

Yes. The user downloads the chosen version of the program and installs it following the guide.

Can we try the product before buying?

Yes. A free version for five users is available for the initial evaluation — it is a fully functional Standard version with no feature limitations.

How does Cyber-CryptOn protect data?

The system automatically protects files in the specified directories and opens them for employees who have access rights, distributes those rights and ensures that files are stored, copied and transferred in protected form only. As a result, only an authorised user can open a file. There is no need to keep a password file or to worry that the contents will reach outsiders through third-party services and networks.

What is file protection based on?

Protection transforms the contents of a file using a cryptographic algorithm and a unique key. Even if an attacker intercepts a protected file, they cannot restore its contents without the key. The AES-256 algorithm is strong enough to make brute-force key search practically impossible. Protection applies both when data travels across the network and when files are stored on disks and in cloud storage, and it holds all the way from sender to recipient.

How is Cyber-CryptOn better than other data protection systems?

The system has three key advantages. Setup is simple and convenient — no specialists are needed for deployment. There is no need to memorise or store passwords: the system manages access automatically. Everything runs in the background and requires no extra actions from your employees.

What else does Cyber-CryptOn help with?

Even without a server of your own, you can safely upload files to any cloud storage — third-party services get no access to the contents. Files can be sent through any messenger and stay protected. The load on the computer is minimal — lower than that of an ordinary browser.

What information is worth protecting?

Any information whose leak could harm the company or its clients needs protection. First of all this is trade secrets: financial results, strategic plans, contract terms and pricing. Personal data of employees and clients matters just as much — a leak brings legal liability and reputational damage. Technical documentation, software source code and research results also need to be kept from competitors. Internal correspondence and regulations may contain details whose disclosure would weaken the company’s market position. In short, protection applies to all information of commercial, legal or strategic value.

What categories of confidential information are there?

Confidential information falls into several main categories depending on its nature. Trade secrets cover finances, the client base, suppliers and business strategy. Personal data includes anything that identifies an individual: names, addresses, document numbers, biometrics. Internal confidential information covers documents and details whose access is restricted within the organisation. Professional secrecy protects information obtained by specialists in the course of their duties — for example medical or legal privilege. Each category is governed by its own regulations and calls for specific protective measures.

How is information protected?

Information protection relies on a combined approach of technical, organisational and legal measures. Technical means include protecting data at rest and in transit, firewalls, antivirus systems and intrusion detection. Organisational measures cover access rights, regular security training for employees and audits. Multi-factor authentication plays an important role, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorised access. Backups keep data safe in the event of failures, attacks or human error. Legal measures include non-disclosure agreements and compliance with data protection legislation.

Can confidential information be sent through messengers and kept in the cloud?

Sending confidential information through ordinary messengers is highly undesirable, because most of them do not provide an adequate level of data protection. Their servers are located in other jurisdictions and may be exposed to leaks or to requests from foreign authorities. Storing confidential data in public cloud services carries risks too: the user effectively entrusts the protection of their information to a third party. Cyber-CryptOn removes this problem — a file stays protected in any channel and any storage, and only an employee with access rights can open it.

What risks does a business face without a data protection system?

Without a reliable protection system a business is exposed to serious risks. A departing manager can walk away with the client base. Ransomware can paralyse the accounting department for a week or more. A personal-data compliance audit may reveal that the required protective measures are missing, which brings fines. Cyber-CryptOn meets regulatory requirements and helps avoid such situations.

Which versions are available on the website?

Free, Standard, Advanced and Enterprise. The versions differ in how the rights synchronisation server is arranged, how deeply they integrate with the company structure and the level of support.

Which option suits a company of up to 50 people?

A small company needs to keep the budget lean and avoid hiring a security team. The best option is a system that works on a set-and-forget basis and is managed from a single window. We recommend starting with the free version for five users and moving to Standard as the team grows.

Which option suits a company of more than 50 people?

The Standard version protects any number of users. If you need your own rights synchronisation server inside the company network, or integration of access with your existing structure (Active Directory), Advanced and Enterprise are the right fit. Contact our sales team and they will help you choose a plan.

Which plan should we start with?

We recommend downloading the free version: it lets five employees work and matches Standard in features. As the team grows, simply purchase Standard licences — they are added to your current version automatically.

How do we buy or renew a licence?

Payment is made online by card or by invoice. Accounting documents are sent to your email. Paying through the client area is more convenient: it shows your payment history and the number of licences purchased.

What is in the client area?

Details of the licences you have purchased, your payment history and documents to download. New licences are purchased there as well.

Is the product suitable for a large company?

Yes. The Enterprise version is designed for large business and corporations: full integration of rights and access with the existing company structure (Active Directory), a rights synchronisation server hosted inside the company network, and dedicated support.

Did not find your answer?
